Join us as we gather the tribes once again to celebrate peace, dance in the streets,
be inspired by art, shop exotic stores, make new friends and greet old ones, generate waves of joy, and expand our consciousness.
Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love,
and the 18th ongoing historic countercultural gathering of How Weird.
The 18th annual How Weird Street Faire
will take place on Sunday May 7, 2017
from Noon to 8pm in downtown San Francisco.
The event is centered at Howard and 2nd Streets,
in the heart of the city’s technology and art sectors.
Filling in the faire will be thousands of people in colorful costumes dancing in the streets.
There will be 11 stages of world-class electronic music.
The legendary soundtrack to the Summer of Weird will be provided by the CCC, SomaFM, Symbiosis, Muti Music, Enchanted Forest, Northern Nights, Pulse SF, Temple Nightclub, Underground Nomads, Mountain Lion Hi-Fi, Cypher Sessions, Solid Gold Jacuzzi, and the Lagunitas Circus Midway.
It will be a revolution you can dance to!

Summer of Love Pavilion
There will be a special Summer of Love pavilion at the center intersection this year. It will include the How Weird Info Booth, the California Historical Society providing info on 1967 and 2017 anniversary events, and a gallery of tie-dye and 60s art from Love On Haight. There will also be fashion shows, light shows, documentary footage from 1967, and more.

There will be a new Circus Alley on Minna Street
Featuring a stage by Skyhigh Odditorium and aerial performances.
There will be circus stage shows featuring hand balancing, contortion, and pole dancing. Circus Alley will be an interactive environment with facepainters, stiltwalkers, and clowns, as well as a diverse line-up of music throughout the day with Cerebellum Projekt.

Introducing Green Alley on Tehama Street
Featuring cannabis related exhibits and educational talks and a dub music stage.
There will be no sales of cannabis at the faire.

For 2017, there will be a special new item… the Magic Button.
The collectible metal pin button will be $20 at the faire entrances.
The presale Magic Buttons are no longer available.

The theme for 2017 is “Summer of Weird”, honoring the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love and celebrating the current generation of creative events. Alan Cohen, one of the pioneers of the Summer of Love, believed that innovative events could change the course of history. In the SF Oracle, he wrote that “a new concept of celebrations must emerge, become conscious, and be shared, so a revolution can be formed with a renaissance of compassion, awareness, and love, and the revelation of unity for all mankind.”
The How Weird Street Faire is continuing the great tradition of moving humanity further. Come experience the next level of peace celebration, and see why San Francisco is still at the vanguard of creativity, artistic expresssion, and conscious development. Turn on, tune in, and be weird!
